An in-depth and thorough look at violence and its effects.
Violence is a part of all our lives. Some of us have been victims of violence ourselves, or know someone who has. Media reports of wars, murders, rape and child abuse make us all aware of the violence that exists in the world. This book looks at the many different kinds of violence (including family violence, violence in young people’s lives, terrorism), and examines why it occurs. A chapter is dedicated to ‘preventing violence’, looking at how we, as individuals, can help to create a less violent society. Containing debate boxes which challenge the reader to think about difficult questions, and viewpoint boxes that look at differing sides of the debates.
